Mohair is the fine shorn fleece from the Angora Goat.
Originally from the Ankara region in Turkey today most production is based in South Africa and Texas in the US.
The Adult Angora Goat produces Mohair between 38 and 34 microns this being the highest proportion of the clip. Young Goats, animals from around 1to 2 years of age produce a fibre range between 33 and 30 microns, the Kid goats, usually below one year producing fibre of between 29 to 24 microns.
The length of the the fibre ranges from 65mm in the younger animals to above 100mm in some of the older goats.
We specialise in yarns produced from the finenest Kid Mohair, mainly for fine hand and machine knitting and in blends with silk.
