What is known as Cashmere is the finer inner fleece of the Cashmere Goat. This fine inner fleece being mechanically removed from the coarser "guard" hair.
In the main production areas of China and Mongolia Cashmere is normally collected after the goats shed their winter coats in spring.
The Fleece is scoured before passing through a de-hairing process to remove the finer fleece, generally between 15 to 19 microns.
Whilst most fibre is only 32-35 mm long and spun on a woollen system we use longer fibres around 45mm to ensure that it can be locked into place using the worsted spinning system.
